{"id":815,"date":"2020-04-09T04:29:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T04:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifestylegist.com.ng\/?p=815"},"modified":"2026-05-15T10:50:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T10:50:10","slug":"nigerian-doctors-react-as-chinese","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifestylegist.com.ng\/?p=815","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian Doctors React As Chinese Medical Team Arrive The Country"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/b\/R29vZ2xl\/AVvXsEipI8jBqEdF-UShvznIxwwwl1-FyfC4EpFsg2Ut8CXy3z3727epM7Xk_E5HwYv3Y6Zkh_AVuSb_zvi_wJvg5rJc5dtnqewuyKpI-ckN047lAYe5xNIZL3GuuGp37ZvidjACPpsSg9fLO_s\/s1600\/images+%252862%2529.jpeg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lifestylegist.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/images-252862-2529.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/lifestylegist.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/images-252862-2529.jpg\" alt=\"Nigerian Doctors React As Chinese Medical Team Arrive The Country - Image 1\" title=\"Nigerian Doctors React As Chinese Medical Team Arrive The Country - Image 1\" class=\"wp-image-816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lifestylegist.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/images-252862-2529.jpg 650w, https:\/\/lifestylegist.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/images-252862-2529-300x162.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nFollowing the recent arrival of the Chinese medical team, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD) have disclosed they will not permit the Chinese doctors to attend or touch any patient.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nIt was earlier reported that, the medical team came with a donation of equipment worth about $1.5m, including test kits, ventilators, disinfection machine, disposable medical masks, N95 masks, medicines, rubber gloves, protective gowns, goggles, face shields, infra-red thermometers and other critical care items, asides donation, the 15-man medical team have specialties in infectious disease, respiratory illness, intensive care, cardiology, neurology, general surgery and anesthesiology.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nPresident of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Francis Faduyile, while speaking with journalists said:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;\u201cOur stand has not changed and we still insist that there is nothing that they (Chinese) want to offer that can improve what we have on ground.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cThere are so many things that we need to put into consideration because it is a war affecting ordinary Nigerians, and sometimes you look at the risk and benefits.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cOur members will look at what is on ground; if we are doing what we are doing and they (Chinese) do not interfere with us, we will continue doing what we are doing for Nigerians.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cWe cannot now precipitously make a decision. We are an Association that is bounded by ethics, and rules. In a very short while, you will hear our decision\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nIn a similar situation, President of the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD), Dr. Sokomba Aliyu, also said:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cThe representatives of the government had stated some days back that the Chinese experts are coming to donate some personal protective equipment \u2013 ventilators etc. for us. We do not have anything against people coming to make donations.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&#8220;They also stated that they are coming to install those ventilators they brought with them, which again we do not have problems with.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cBut we have categorically stated that the Chinese can\u2019t attend to any Nigerian for whatever reason because this is unethical and illegal.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&#8220;The Chinese do not have the license to practice in Nigeria. And we do not need their hands as we are not overwhelmed and can take care of our patients.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cSo far, they have also stated that they are not coming to attend to patients, so we cannot say categorically if their words are anything to go by.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&#8220;While they have gone ahead to welcome the Chinese, we are hopeful that the Chinese will have nothing to do with our patients because if they proceed to involve the Chinese in the management of our patients, we will just leave the patients for the Chinese to continue managing.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cAs it is now, we are going to be watchful and wait for them to see how far they are engaging the Chinese, and to what extent they are going to be managing our patients.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cIf they proceed to get them to do whatever it is with our patients, then, we will just let them have the patients and whatever comes out of it will be squarely traceable to the Chinese involvement in the management of our patients\u201d.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following the recent arrival of the Chinese medical team, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD) have disclosed they will not permit the Chinese doctors to attend or touch any patient.
